I use the 230TC bullet in my XD and in my revolvers with convertible acp cylinders, works great with no feeding problems. I size to .452 and use 5gr/WW231 or 5gr/Bullseye for a stronger factory duplicate load, have also used 6gr/Unique with great results. Good luck

COAL 0f 1.210, .469 taper crimp has worked flawlessly in the couple of dozen 1911s in which I've either used it or seen it used. My load is ...er...uh... a bowling pin load. Kooz's recommendations should serve you well.

Kooz and Flinchnjerk seem to have given you about as good of advice as there is.

Best Wishes from the Boer Ranch,

I had a little problem bumping the slide stop on my Kimber and making the slide catch. Could have been an OAL thing or a magazine thing, as I've read Kimber mags ain't that great. I've had the same problem with Speer 200 grn. gold dots.
Either way, the Lee 230 was plenty accurate with 6.0 grains of H-Universal and left a big hole in paper. Even if it does bump your stop, the stop can easily be filed (by someone who knows what they are doing, and I don't).
Since then, I've gone to Lee 200 SWC's and the problem went away.

i run the 230gr TC sized to .452 exclusively and love it. in fact, it's what i use for carry ammo. i've never had a FTF and it's very accurate out to 50 yards in my RIA 1911 (i can hit 4 out of 5 clays at that range with it). i load mine on top of 5.5gr of ramshot zip powder. it's very consistant.

All good Poop here.
One issue you may find that is easily solved is the problem of the boolet being the headspace stopper. Just seat it a little deeper. Problem solved. "A LITTLE"!!

I too had some problems with the Lee 230TC bullet feeding in both my and a buddy's gun. I shortened the OAL just a tad, and voila! Problem solved. I wound up slightly taper crimping the cases on the last vestige of the parallel sidewalls of the shank of the bullet, if that helps any. I didn't shorten the OAL more than
.030", and probably less than that.

After shortening the OAL, the bullet fed like water over a waterfall. Never thought that such a small difference could make that much difference, but we're all still learning, or are supposed to be, right?

Turn your seating stem of your seater die in until it's just short of the beginning of the ojive, and see if that doesn't cure your problem.

Good bullet. A buddy shot two deer with some bullets I gave him. Both were one shot kills, under 50 yds. with excellent bullet placement, FWIW.

I have the Lee 230 T/C. I size it to .452". I seat it doen to where the taper starts otherwise it may get jammed into the throat. I load it with 6.0gr Unique. The thing is you need to use a taper crimp die to straiten out the flair in the mouth or it will jam. I usually cast it out of wheel weights or pure lead.
I'm shooting it out of my Springfield 1911A1, it has a tight chamber so I tend to use my older RCBS dies dated "78". The seater is really tight and it swages the case back to form while seating. I had problems at first but after making sure the boolit doesn't bulge the case I was fine.

Blackwater,
Thanks for the tip. I've been meaning to come back around to that mould and work up a 100% reliable load for it. I suspected that a little deeper seat might help.
The 200 grainers let me get back on target a little quicker, but if I ever take the Kimber after deer, that big flat point on those 230's has to pack a lot more wallop.
And, like everyone here seems to agree, it is plenty accurate.

My brother's Ruger P90 will not feed 200 SWC, 200 Lee RF, 255 Lee RF and most anything else I've tried that was other then a 230gr RN.

It will feed the Lee 230gr TC, everytime, all the time. That's the only other boolit we've found besides a 230gr RN that it will feed.

My Glock & Colt's feed all the above just fine.
