Does the Marlin 1895 suffer from the same problems as the 1894 by chance? Sorry if this is a dumb ? . :)

I've probably been way more fortunate then is normal . However I have had one small jam with my 1894CCL in 32-20 ! And it took about two minutes to fix that !

As far as the 1895's are concerned I've not come close to a jam with any of them [smilie=1:

Okay what I mean is should I do the same mods to the 1895 as I would the 1894? Thank You

I've never seen a reason to modify any of them !

Well other then possibly rebarreling something [smilie=1:

Bite your tongue lol. They did have the same thing at the same price with the .450 Marlin Chambering. But I did not see any advantage. As the 45-70 is a tried and true cartridge. :)

But I think it would be neat if Marlin came out with an 1894 that will chamber the S&W .500 lol

Wait a minute I sent my own thread ascew lol. Back to the subject lol.

Some of my 45-70 and 450 loads are interchangable [smilie=1:

That is what I did gather. That for the Marlin you can load the 45-70 the same as the 450 and the only advantage I could see was the fact that one could not put a 450 in an older model of Marlin or any other gun for that matter that was not designed for pressures up above the 28000 cup. Where you can load the Marlin up to 42000 cup. :)

I'm not sure what the question's about, but I did try back in 1973 putting an old .45-70-500 cartridge in my new "1895" Marlin. It jammed badly. Nose of the bullet was too long and the cartridge couldn't be elevated. I managed to push it back into the magazine, then depressed the loading gate and got it out that way. Same problem with my 1894 when I put a cartridge with a #429421 seated to the crimp groove in it. They need short cartridges to work.

I've been disappointed for 35 years that Marlin used the 336 action for the "1895," instead of replicating the old 1895 action as they did for the 1894. But it's a good rifle anyway.

I would like to see the old 1895 action in 45-70 also.I like my 357 and 45 colt Cowboys alot.I'd buy one in 45-70 if it had the old square-bolt action. The ejecter is much easier to put back in the action and they look far better, the 45-70 doesn't need to be loaded high-pressure.I would buy one even if they were more expensive. The round bolt 45-70CB just doesn't look right to me.They do balance well with the long barrel. The long tube can hold lots of ammo also.

I to would like to see the "original" Marlin 1895 back in production !

I have 4 of them now and just by picking them up you can tell it's a far more formidable rifle then the present day Model 1895 !

However can you imagine what manufacturing cost would be on that rifle in the USA !

The jap Winchester 1886's were well over $1200 to the customer , so i would expect an "origianl" style Marlin 1895 that was made here in the USA to most likely be double that price ! Something in line with a Shiloh Sharps no doubt !

If they brought the square bolt 1895 back out I think it would be better served to be chambered in the 40-82 and 45-90 ! I'd like to see it in 50-110 also but I am afraid that wasn't an original chambering !

But on another note I have yet to see why they couldn't bring the present model 1895CB out in 40-65 , 38-56 and or 33 WCF . The original model 1895 was chambered in these cartridges (matter of fact I have one for all three) . And other then a different caliber barrel they could use all the same parts as in the present 1895CB in 45-70 caliber .

Do you still have your "New Model 1895" by any chance ?

Am wondering if yours was one of the ones with the seriel number begining with a "B" ?
