went to check my mosin nagant with 203gr softpoints today, for deer season, and it is shooting 6" high. my question is, is the front pin on mosin nagants threaded it? if I can turn it to back the sight out and get it a bit higher, it would fix this problem. I shot a 2" group off hand at 50 yards, so its accurate, just not on target. please help!-Travis

Get a taller front sight post, or just learn where it's hitting and adjust accordingly. You can always hold on the bottom of a deer's chest and that aould probably put you where you need to be.
This is one reason cast reduced loads in Milsurps are so go, usually you can get them to hit to point of aim.

Shoot lighter weight bullets.

no, raise the rear sight and it would shoot higher, and yes, it did shoot closer with lighter bullets/ cast boolits, but I lost my sizing die, and spent the last of my money on the only softpoints I could find, which are 203gr. im pretty sure that's the bulk of the problem. but anyways, my SKS is cocked, locked, and ready to rock, so im good to go! I will mess with the mosin after deer season. thanks for all the tips guys!
