The biggest boolits I cast i my BM today are 250 gr 45s. I'm thinking of expanding my inventory to some 45-70 boolits and maybe some heavy boolits for use in 460 revolvers.

I see that Magma offer two options for many of these big boolits, one or two cavity blocks.

I would appreciate to hear from you with experience in casting big boolits on this machine. What do you recommend?

I understand that it is easier to get good fillout in a singke cavity mould when dropping a big amount of lead. But the downside is that you have to change out the orfice plate under the pot.

What do you recomend when choosing a boolit at 300-350 gr?

Thanks

I ran their 405gr 2 cavity mold with no issues.
I just turned the alloy temp down to about 675-f, and used the fan.
a 350 would not be much different than running a 250, just back off the speed and alloy temp a bit and you'll have the same results.

For the big stuff I normally use a single cavity in my master caster. If you chose a double cavity you just need to slow down & run cool as possible like the man from Idaho said. BTW I once used a 4 cavity 45/405 Lyman mould. To have no frost takes a long time.
