There has been some confusion as to privileges and rules here so I made changes in the header to address certain items.
Swappin & Sellin A Place to Buy and Sell Our GUN STUFF!
This means gun stuff you have, or want to buy or trade.
"NO EBAY LINKS,PLUGS or NOTICES" If the item is not for sale here,do not list it here. This goes for listing the same goods on other forums, This area is subject to thread deletion without notice if the same stuff is posted elsewhere.
Everyone knows where ebay is and if they are interested in buying there than so be it, but they have a considerable audience already and we are not in their advertising budget.
Listing the same goods here that is listed verbatim on several other forums is distasteful and disrespectful to this forum and others. If you are not interested in listing your goods for sale merely on this forum then do not post it at all.
Sales, trades and auction style sales are OK.
Anyway both the buyer and seller are happy, fine by us.
Rules: NO spamming ,no degrading posts on sales threads,
Spamming is cause for immediate banning, anyone can report a spammer and they will be removed post haste.
Abusive posts on sales threads are against the terms of service, the "good neighbor" does not point out how overpriced something is, if something is overpriced the seller generally reduces the price or the thread dies and goes away, your pointing out how foolish something may be does not help anything.
must be a member of 30 days AND have 25 posts. Note in August of 2011 we started requiring both , if a member joined prior to the cut-off you are grandfathered in.
Privileges to post here can be revoked for abusing the above terms. Thanks!

Again, posts that even appear to be abusive will be deleted. The original poster also has no right to abuse other members, we the staff will attend to business.
Remember, this is not like other forums where trash and abuse will be condoned. If someone has issues with the terms of service here they are not obligated to remain members nor are we obligated to keep them on the rolls.
Any posts/threads are subject to deletion at the discretion of me or my staff. Abusive and aggressive behavior will result in either a temporary or permanent ban.

There is a new subforum for Want To Buy posts at the top of this forum.
Please use it.
It has been put there by 45nut for your benefit, as WTB post won't dissappear so quickly there as the do in the main Swapping and Selling forum.

I have received a lot of payments in the last few weeks for items I have sold and a lot of them contain no info in regards to what they are for.
A lot of sellers including myself sometimes rely on some kind of description or note saying what the payment is for.
I am asking buyers of items to please, please put some kind of note in with your payment or some kind of description on the money order to make life A LOT easier for some.
I received 3 payments today with no description on them or note with what their for so please bear with me till I can figure it out. If you sent me a payment with no info what it was for please shoot me a pm with the item you purchased so I can get it shipped out quicker. I have about 400 pm's to go thru to find these items and match them up with the payment amounts and its going to take me a day or two to sort thru them all.
And one more request, If asked for a Postal Money Order please send a Postal Money Order because its a problem for some to cash a personal check or out of state money order or Money Gram
I know what you are talking about dealing with the same thing BTW I got some 45LC brass coming my way and I sent a money order just incase I did not write on the money order thats what it was for.

I got one about a year ago that had a note . said" dont know what I bought but here is the money". Was 2 $20 bills and no return address. Was 3 months before I got another letter asking where the stuff was? No address. I found him because he told another guy that I never sent the items. So have fun Mike

When I had my heating business, had this old lady calling me for a heating problem. This was before caller id, and her name was Mrs. Smith (no kidding) she left a message, next day another, this went on for a week, messages got madder and nastier. Finally I was there to answer (she didn't call the pager number I left on the message) and she was yelling, why didn't you call me. I told her she never left her number and since she was Mrs. Smith I wasn't calling the 100 some in the book. She laughed. People are goofy.

First off,, if anyone on the web has no idea how to find ebay by now they need only to start typing it in the address bar of their browswer and it will pop up.
Second, Ebay doesn't spend any money advertising here, nor will they ever sponsor us because we are a gun forum. They spend millions on advertising and do not need help.
Third, their usual link is nearly a mile long and sufficient to induce a migraine trying to scroll back and forth.
Please do not post ebay links here folks.

Seems recently there have been lots of cross posted goods, same goods for sale here and on other forums.
We have a swapping and selling area here that gets lots and lots of traffic, certainly if something doesn't sell here you are welcome to post it elsewhere,, or if it doesn't sell elsewhere you are welcome to post it here,, all we ask is that is not for sale elsewhere at the same time it is listed here, or vice versa.
Having the exact same goods listed on one or more forums is disrespectful to the forums you are listing them at for both the ownership and your fellow members since more than one person may call for the items at the same time, certain to tick off someone eventually.
It is a simple rule, and we aren't trying to be harsh about it, but the rule was implemented for a reason and bandwidth is not free for forum owners and it is tacky to blow off the rules and waste bandwidth here when it may already be sold elsewhere or vice versa.
Simple right?

in a effort to reduce band width use and increase server resourses and search speeds. threads will be deleted after 30 days and items sold will be also deleted. if your item has not been sold by the time stated above feel free to repost it. this will bring your item back to the top insted of being hidden under a bunch of older threads and let folks know it's still up for sale. thanks steve k

Hard to imagine getting by in this world without a checking account. I know it can be more difficult for you to get to a bank, but it can also be difficult for buyers to get to the USPS and get a MO. Some guys work long hours or just live out in nowwhere. I take checks all the time. I don't cah them, just deposit them, no problem. Now as to the no note on the payment, that has been a problem from time to time. Especially if you take the order on the phone and don't write it down, you have no e-mail to look up.

I get by great without a bank account, debit card and cell phone and its the sellers choice on how to get paid because some sellers cant cash a personal check like myself and some others here. I know most of the buyers and sellers accept them here but theres a few unfortunately that cant and its up to the involved parties to arrange the payment type prior to the sale. I made the mistake in the past of taking a few personal checks even when I clearly stated POSTAL MONEY ORDER ONLY and had a BIG hassle getting them cashed. I had to eat one for a small amount because it wasn't worth the back and forth mail again so I just tore it up and considered the item paid for and shipped it to the buyer. If a postal money order is the only form of payment the seller can or will accept then it should be clearly listed on the sale page for the item being sold.

at one time there was over 500 pages in the swapping & selling forum, that was over 13,000 threads plus all the posts on each thread! we are now down to a average of 20 pages which is "only" 500 threads. there are many threads with items that are for sale that are not real clear as to weather the deal was done being it was just "PM sent" or "by email only" so when a deal is completed it would be helpfull to say so in some manner either "SPF" or "DONE" or just "GONE" steve k

It would also be nice if people were to use email for the majority of the communication during the deal so that when this forum is down for whatever reason, the parties still have a way to contact each other. Since there is a limit of 200 PMs on the forum, this can get reached fairly quickly with a conversations back and forth on a few different items.

Due to the increase in the # of people who try to violate our rules of selling policy we have setup a new way to help people learn. If you violate our terms of selling by selling the same thing on multiple forums you will be issued an infraction. The infraction expires in TWO months, and if you get three infractions in two months you will be banned from the forum for 3 weeks.
Please be considerate of our rules here. Thank you.

just a clarification question, i had something posted elsewhere, then decided to offer it here instead. i posted on the other site that i was pulling it from sale there. i then posted it here. i received an email that my post here was being removed until i got the post on the last site deleted. that's easy on some sites, impossible on others. what is going to be your policy in a case like that? i just don't want to be a rule breaker.

I would suggest if you are going to list it on multiple sites, list it here first, as we can delete topics on request with no problem. After the item leaves these pages, we don't care what you do with it.

Most of the time a pm to the admin or a moderator on any site can take care of these type issues, just a quick note and most would be happy to help. If you have stuff listed elsewhere and you cannot get them to remove the thread,, post "items now offered elsewhere"
If you do have that posted you will not be taken to task by us,we want to work with you, just let me/us know.
That will clear up things for us, and them.
Really, we did not want to do this, it just creates work for us but we are drowning in wasted bandwidth with items such as this when a member just ignores or doesn't take the time to even read the guidelines for the forum.
The main issue is covered here:

I want to clarify, this does NOT affect items such as DJ's Gator Checks,,Bullshops Bullplate,Lubes etc, or Lar45's Lubes, Pat Marlins CFF or Check dies, or any such item produced for US and a mass market, this is for general sales of stuff that regular members are just selling as a one time deal.
We will be coming up with a new "Vendor Sponsor" level for business level sales in the near future.

What is wrong with a cashiers check??? These are FREE to those of us over 60 at our banks and are much simpler to fill out. (tjhere is nothing to do).
Just wonder why they are not mentioned.
Thanks in advance.

because a postal money order is what the seller want's. this is not ebay or gunbroker. The site owner or the staff has no say on what method is used for payment all this is is a place to connect with those that may want your "merchendise" all the site asks is that you finish your deal. steve k

A cashier's check looks different from every bank, and are easy to forge. Forged cashier's checks are SOP for Nigerian 419 scammers. With the right routing numbers, it can take months for a forged cashier's check to be found out, and charged back to the person who presented it. The scammers are taking advantage of the erroneous belief that cashier's checks are "good as cash".
Postal money orders are a known animal, harder to forge, and a federal crime if you do. You can take one to a post office, and they can verify it as authentic on-the-spot.
That said, they are a pain in the butt, because you have to buy them with cash...so a trip to the bank to get cash, then a trip to the PO to buy a MO. Banks and PO have restricted hours, so this can mean taking time off from work. Also a pain for large purchases because maximum amount is $2000, so an expensive item can require several....found that out when I bought my camper.
I for one would be happy to pay any seller the 2% fee that PayPal charges just to avoid the hassle of a money order....and yes I get that it is higher risk than MOs.
