I am thinking about trying paper patching for .308, 8mm & 30-06. How much "confetti" do these loads throw out. If I shoot a 10 round rapid fire string during a vintage rifle CMP match am I going to be blowing a cloud of shredded paper in front of me and my competitors?

Nah, I rarely find any pieces.

The one fella I have met that PP for his 40/70SS only had a little bit come out the front on firing. If you didn't know about his boolits being PP, then you might not notice at all.

Yeah, almost a grain or two. Nothing like the trap blank loads of confetti I made up for my wife - others on the trap line would notice those a bit more than the fiberwads I used to use.

When I use paper of about 0.003" or thicker I find small pieces ~ big enough to recognize but small.

I just did some .44 mags with 0.002" tracing paper and the bits were so small I had trouble finding them.

So no shouldn't be an issue.

Naw...the confetti is camoflaged by that cloud of white smoke. If somebody asks what the specks on the ground are, tell him they are 'smoke particles'.
