I used to order parts from Graf, but shipping prices are just to high now.
Started to buy from Midsouth, but they don't have most of what I need.
Midway charges $10 extra for any order to Hawaii. They don't want our business.
Natchez, like Midsouth, doesn't have things I want.
Widners is just as bad as Midway.
Any other mail order shops out there that want to sell to Hawaii????

Bottom line.....expect to pay more if you live in Alaska or Hawaii. The plain fact is it costs more to ship there.

You don't mention what you are ordering? but you mention most of the Big vendors...and if a couple of those don't carry what you want, I suspect you want something uniquely specific...I'd google that specific item to find the vendors.

others you didn't mention:
Cabela's
brownells
CDNN
Cheaper than dirt
Gun Parts corp (Numrich)

Also, "Grab-a-Gun" is a new place I ordered from recently, due to best price on Ruger factory mags.

I do not know what you are looking for, but I will not order anything from anybody on items that will fit in flat rate boxes, if they will not use them.

Gunpartscorp.com/ you may find the part is called something other than what your asking for
Dovetail locks are called Top hats or bushings GPC has a live chat to ask questions or help you find the right parts

In my experience Gunpartscorp.com AKA Numrich is more expensive with shipping than Midway and the other guys.

I agree that shipping from any place can be a pain in the wallet. However, the question arises - `how bad do you need the item`?Robert

Lots of stuff can be ordered on Amazon and shipping is free with prime.

For companies that want to know where the package is at all times the USPS isn't an option. I'm not allowed to use any carrier besides UPS when shipping for the company. Their tracking is real time unlike the USPS which is quite a joke. I understand your reasoning. But there is more risk involved when shipping parcels w/ the USPS. I will only briefly mention their nonexistent insurance claim department.

Lots of stuff can be ordered on Amazon and shipping is free with prime.

This is where I go first for practically everything. If they don't have it I will move on to another vendor. I always have to price shop. Ones that are closer typically have cheaper shipping charges. But that's not always the case. Titan charges a lot for the minimal distance it has to travel to get to me. Not bashing them. They almost always lose a sale to Amazon because of their shipping charges.

I always try to have them ship USPS flat rate.
Shipping is the same for anyplace in the USA.
So it won't cost more to ship to us.
I used to deal with Graf a lot. They would bend over backwards to fit everything in a flat rate box.
Don't know what happened over there, but they seem to not want to help out anymore.
Midway charges $10 extra, even when shipping USPS flat rate box.
Shipping can nickel and dime us to death.
I try to order everything from the same place if possible.
I do order from Amazon. Mostly books. But I have ordered tools and rifle cases. I only order if it's free shipping.
I just ordered some parts from Numrich. M1 Carbine parts. They had a minimum. so I had to add to the order.
I;m looking to order some heads and a mold. I'd also like to order a Wolff spring and buffer for my Marlin Camp 9.
Graf, Mimsouth and Natchez have the heads and mold, but not the spring and buffer.
Midway has all, but I'm not paying $10 extortion to them.
No place here carries any of the items I'm looking for.
I'll probably end up ordering from different places.
Be nice if a mail order opened up that is a one stop shop.

Try Optics Planet, you can usually find a free shipping for one item in your cart which will then apply to the entire order.

code: FS990607NOV
but it expires midnight (CT) tonight.

I'll be blunt. There is no best place to buy period. One must look first to see who has the best part costs and then consider the shipping costs. Possibly look to see if someone has free shipping if you buy $ x amount.

I always cussed Dillon and RCBS to name several. They both are very proud of their shipping it would seem. If you consider however that they both have excellent warranty policies then you also have to consider that the warrantys are probably partly funded by the shipping costs.

Another thing to consider is the fact that the costs to ship UPS, USPS, have gone up along with labor and the cost of materials associated with shipping in other words the cost for packets, boxes, peanuts, foam, and any other packing material.

I try to purchase based on the part costs and then by the shipping cost and try to purchase a number of items to lower the shipping costs.

Brownells sent a email about free shipping for today only.
I checked if they had what I needed.
Turns out they had less than half of what I was looking for.
I did put in an order of what they had.
In the check out, it was free shipping.
Even for us in Hawaii.
I just hope others will fallow with the free shipping to Hawaii and Alaska.
