“Charles Victor "Vic" Agriesti, 61, of Mint Hill, North Carolina, passed away Friday, January 20, 2017.

Vic was born December 13, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois.

After an early career in the restaurant business, Vic moved on to the repairing of cars and finally to shipping line container repairs. Always having an affinity for computers, as well as managing a team of container repair mechanics for a major shipping line, Maersk, he wrote several programs that streamlined the paperwork side of the job.

At this job in Chicago, his hometown, is where he met Carole, his to-be-wife. Starting to be recognized for his computer skills, he became sought after by the company IT group, known as Maersk Data. Beginning in Chicago, over the years they moved first to California (after a stop in Las Vegas for the wedding), then on to Atlanta and finally to Charlotte.

This is where his group was bought out first by IBM and then, subsequently by AT&T. Vic was well recognized within his group as being, not only the first one to volunteer to take on work, especially if it was something new to learn, but was also happy to be known as the "go to guy” which is quite an accomplishment, being self-taught.

Vic had a bellowing, infectious laugh that turned heads and a sense of humor that brought people together. He will be missed ...

His immediate family includes his wife, Carole Schaefer of Mint Hill; his brothers, Rick and Vince Agriesti; and his sisters, Sue Dudek and Ann Marie Sedlacek, and son, David Schaefer.“
