I have this old 30-40 Krag military cartridge. Look at the date on it. The bullet is of the cupronickel jacket.

I found one of those in a box of my Great grandfathers. He was a volunteer from San Antonio in the SA war. I assume it may have been from there. Head stamp date is "98"..

A gun shop my shooting buddy worked in in NC had a wooden box full of that old military .30/40 Krag ammo under the gunsmith's bench. All had split necks due to age. We pulled 20 bullets and loaded them in an 06 Springfield. Firing those was a real adventure./beagle

FA 5 07
Frankford Arsenal May 1907

There are few veteran reloaders who are not familiar with the famous initials "FA" on military .30-06 Springfield brass - and for good reason. The original Frankford Arsenal Army Ammunition Plant was constructed between 1816 and 1830. In addition to massive small arms ammunition production, Frankford Arsenal was responsible for almost all of the research and development and manufacture of U.S. Army field reloading equipment for the .45-70 Government, 50/70, 30/40 Krag and .30-06 Springfield - beginning in the 1880's

My buddy has a unopened belt....it's a shame it was under water due to a flooded basement.
