Bullet trouble

Hello i just joined this sight, so i just slugged my m91/30 mn and it came up as .316 and i wpuld like to get a mold and reload for it but i dont know what mold i would need and what size bullet i would need to use -billy

You might want to slug aor chamber cast the chamber neck to make sure a .316 bullet seated in the case will chamber.

CBE out of Australia made me a nice .316 bullet that otherwise is a copy of 314299, they have alot of experience with those oversize bores in their Lee Enfield .303s, where bore diameters are all over the place.

A pound cast is easy to do and very accurate, I've done about 5 or 6 without issue, just remember to put a cleaning patch between the lead and the metal rod before you start pounding and to oil the chamber and bore.

Look in the chamber and throat area very good. If there is a lot of pitting, you may have a hard time getting the casting out. I did a chamber casting for a friend on an old Spanish mauser. Yes I looked and saw it was pitted. It just didn't ring in my head. After ruining 2 cleaning rods, I ended up melting it out. I'm glad it was Bismuth.

NOE makes a very nice 316299. Shoots well from my 303's. As Larry said, make sure your throat will accept .316, but I suspect it will. JW

Pounding out a chamber cast using a cleaning rod is likely not the best idea. Use a solid (preferably brass) rod. There is very little strength in most cleaning rods.
