I have a new 575494 minieball mold it's a semi wad cutter 315 gr. with 2 base plugs, looks like one for a thin skirt and one for a thicker skirt.

Read where the North South Skirmish boys use these for target fodder.

It's brand new in the plastic box, I will sell it for $70.00 to your door.

But I would rather trade for a 575213 or a 575213 OS in very good condition.

I have all of the molds you mention as well as a RCBS that throws a semi wadcutter that weighs less than the 315. All shoot very well. I have fired many of the 315 grain SWC that your mold casts and they have worked great out of all of my rifled muskets. The problem with them is when someone tries to use them with too heavy of a charge - especially with a thin skirt as you can blow the skirt on them just like you can on any minie ball. IIRC, I used to use a 40 gr charge of FFG with the 325 gr SWC and it was a sure killer on the clay board (N-SSA) at 25 and 50 yards. Both of the 575-213 molds also shoot well - normally I used 60 gr of FFG with those.

If you don't get a response on the 575-213 molds you are looking for - keep track of flabbay. There normally are a few on there that can be had for about half of what they retail for. My regular Lyman575-213 - 505 grain mold I've been using since about 1963 or so - bought it new and it has cast tens of thousands of minies and is still going strong today.

Good luck to you!

Bump to the top!
