Just got done casting about 1/3 of my next years supply of 41 Long Colt bullets today. I got to thinking about which moulds I use the most -- meaning which calibers I shoot the most. Here is my list of most common in the order I use them. I cast a lot of others, but only on rare occasions (as needed). How about you?

1) Rapine 386215 Hollow-base 41LC mould (modified from 386185).
2) Lyman/Ideal 358477 (for 2 or 3 dozen .38 Specials)
3) RCBS 32-98
4) Lyman/Ideal 358156 GC

None or all, depending how you look at it. Tend to crank out bullets in multi- hundred lots, most all being for single shots or slow rate repeaters like lever action and bolt guns. 2/3/400 bullets lasts a spell, especially for ML target guns.

For me
1. 4 cavity NOE 412459
2. 4 cavity Ballisti-Cast 668 .45
3. 3 cavity Saeco #382 158 gr. SWC (replacing with an Accurate 36-160K)
4. 3 cavity Accurate 36-171N
5. 3 cavity Saeco 16H .38 wadcutter
Used to cast a lot with a 2 cavity Lyman 358156 but the Accurate 36-171N replaced it so it's an honorable mention.

I've got a pile of .358 molds and that Lee produces some extremely accurate bullets in a hurry

I use a Lot of lee molds. I cast around 1000 of each a year of 9mm 40 S&w 38 spec and 30 cal rifle. I have two different 30 cal noe molds. a 130 gr and a 200 gr. The lee 90 swc and 100 rn are so fun to shoot in my 308 that's what I use the most with light loads.

well. The ones I use the most. .309,.358,.401. And then other calibers I'm low on or molds I recently obtained.
Unless I'm showing someone the ropes of casting and then it's usually what they could use.

It is indeed an addiction. A new bullet design,a new caliber,or some other experiment of handloading. An old tradition with many new twists and technologies to utilize. Also an extension of the shooting sport itself.

Accurate 45-230-V which is great for 45 ACP
MP 452374 HP would be next in this caliber

Accurate 40-190-R for 10mm is my next most used mold

Then would be the Accurate 45-310-B mold for heavy Ruger Only 45 Colt loads

Flavor of the day. Currently .395 round balls for the coming flintlock. Harry, I have a bunch of the Lee heeled HB cast for my .41. Very accurate in my Uberti. A local SEAL even commented on it's accuracy when he shot it - and he only shoots semiauto's.

Well, that explains it. Even a 41 Long Colt (with the OD of the bullet quite a bit smaller than the bore size of the barrel) is as accurate as most semiautos (or bottomfeeding tickencrunchers as someone once said).

Lots and lots of .45 Colt stuff for my sixguns. I almost never shoot the .357s or .44s anymore. I'm a cowboy action man now.

Nope, that's the heeled boolit sized to .401. Fits perfectly.

I have always liked RCBS molds and most of my casting is for 9mm, 38/357, 44 and 45. I've slowly been replacing these with H&G molds in the same calibers. These are a joy to cast with.

Of late it's been a selection of
458193 Lyman
462-420 HB/PB M-P
Overall ,
It's probably a toss for
452-255 or 200 RNFP
454424 NOE or Lyman
279-124
225-55 NOEs
358-125 or 158 Lee
With side trips in binges to
Assorted 25,26 ,28, 30,32 and 40 cal
Assorted 36,44,45 and 50 cal RB

The bulk of my casting is in NOE , Lyman and, Lee , while Mountain Moulds , RCBS , M-P and Cramer bring up the rear ......... For actual volume Lyman and Lee should probably switch places .
For tonnage the M-P should be right behind Lyman as a per session average .

I have a lot of Saeco moulds in 4 & 8 cavity perhaps 15+ there the ones I use the most!
3 RCBS moulds in 2 cavity
2 lee 6 cavity
2 Mountain Moulds in 3 cavity
1 LBT mould in 2 cavity

Two Lyman 429421 four cavity moulds were my most used hands down. This was my best selling bullet & at one point my personal most shot bullet.

Now days the Saeco/Redding #928 but one of my 45s is catching up.

probably 6 cavity 9mm, 38/357, and 45 acp

I shoot most of my volume in 40/10mm so a 5 cav NOE 180 RF gets a lot of attention. Followed by an LBT 402-200-WFN, my best casting mold.

Then an RCBS 38-150-SWC. That is a sweet mold second only to maybe the LBT in ease of casting

I have two many irons in the fire, but the ones i have used this year the most
1. MP 359-640L hp 4 cav
2. MP 314-640 100 grain HP 4 cav
3. Lyman 358-311 4 cav
4. RCBS 44-250 KT 2 cav
5. Ranch Dog 314-75
6. RCBS 32-98 SWC (NOE 5 cav clone)

Thinking back, I am dismayed that I have not cast any Rifle caliber boolits this year. I must be slipping.
