Pleased as punch to recognize my Wife's 43rd year of continuous sobriety today....She put down her last drink on August 25. 1974. Women alcoholics have a very difficult time of things. With men drinking is considered the "macho thing to do" but with women it often leads to hiding the nasty secret of alcoholism and finally being able to face the challenges of sobriety can be really tough.

My Wife has spent much of her 43 years being of service to women that have been trying to attain sobriety. She is great at what she does when asked for help. So from a girl in her 20's with very little future ahead of her to a highly respected sober woman today I again say "happy birthday" and all my Love.

Congratulations to you both. I know the feeling well as having lived through the same. It is a horrible disease and difficult to stop. It was so bad here at times that even ALANON told me it may be better if we split. NO....they didn't understand I had given my word and I meant in sickness and health. 42 years now we have been together and the truth is I am still in love with her. I truly wish you both the best.
