After 30 training days as a Drill Instructor, I have lost 14 lbs lol. Best diet ever!

The duty is rewarding but hard. I'm looking forward to September 15th when we graduate.

I have a 90 man herd of recruits with 90 personalities. I'm in awe that these men still volunteer to serve their country. Fun times indeed!

Semper Fi, your post brings back memories of standing on Yellow Foot Prints and all that followed.

As one of the last draftees, I remember my Drill Instructors with respect. Some of them had been there, done that. Others were like myself, civilians whose plans had been interrupted by their friends and neighbors. They had one common goal; to give me the skills to survive as a soldier.

My memory must be failing. Where did you find those 14 pounds? It is good to hear you are doing well and hopefully your family too.

desk jockied it for a while.

I hated basic training.
I put on abut 12 pounds from eating so much food and getting so little exercise.
lost it tech school real quick though.

Well, Friday at 1000 over 500 Marines graduated. 90 of them I had a hand in training.

I have 14 days off before we do it again. It has been two whole days since I have yelled at a Recruit, but I know for a fact that somewhere on Parris Island a recruit is scratching in formation...

I remember well entering post at 265 pounds and 6 foot 4 inches and just a mere 8 weeks later being 176 pounds. Training at an Airborne Post will do that for a person. I hated the first few weeks then I learned the whole reason for what we were doing and got to know a couple of the Drill Sargents and they helped me a lot and I have never forgot them for that. I trained some Marines when I got to be a Instructor of Combat Engineering along with a lot of others from even different countries. Got to meet the Head of NATO on the European Side of things, mainly because we were both of the same ancestry strange things that bring individuals together while you are serving your nation. Thank you so much for standing for America and those who you will train to do so. Always watch your 6 and stay safe
