NOE HTC molds

I have had great results with the mold for my 45acp I love it but I have yet found a good load for my .225 60gr RN mold I am about ready to throw it in the box of not right now molds

I can imagine a 60gr 45 cal boolit being a problem.
there wouldn't be much there to grip the rifling and the air resistance would make it fly like a quarter.

Sounds right to me...?

I take it you have tried about everything by now and it still doesn't work...

Just a suggestion because I haven't gone there YET..you might want to indicate what twist rate you have and whether you are using a semi auto or bolt and what case you are using it in .223 ,.222,22 hornet etc.

You haven't indicate whether you have surfed the web yet and tried some suggested combinations of sizings, alloy, PC, or powders and primers...there's lots of info out there on the use and casting of .22 cal bullets in just about any thing you can imagine....good luck...Dan

PS....Generally speaking NOE only makes molds that have worked for a good number of people..

I currently am working on refining a Pc'd .225 55gr. Spire pt. Out of my REM. 788 in .222 . Load data in the Lyman 48th edition manual. My load up to this point is 5.5 gr. Of Red Dot. They shoot very well at 30 yards with this load. Still working on longer ranges. Hope this may be of help to ya. CASTER

Thanks I have cast for years but it was for pistol and my trapdoor and rolling block so there has been a bunch of data out for years with the new PC and hi tek coats it is changing things a lot I tried a 75% charge of the normal data and that had no good out comes other than groups bigger than my head at 25yards

I kinda snuck up on the 5.5 gr. ,but 6 and above opens the group up terribly. I also tries using MAG and standard primers with each different loading. Mag primers seem to be the way to go, there is also load data for Green Dot, and unique. Thus I am still exploring more possibilities. Where in Pa. Do you live? I lived just north of Harrisburg for 32years , then moved to Cambridge Springs (20miles south of Lake Erie) for 6. Now in Sw Arkansas. 8 years

I love there molds it throws great bullets I use it in my AR 15 it has a 223wylde chamber 1and 8 twist my alloy is a 1to5 lino and wheel weight I use cci sr primers and lake city brass I have looked for load data with very little success I am not very computer savvy I'm one a army grunt that just yells at computers hoping it will work if I yell loud enough I came here hoping for some insight and data thanks for any help

Something with some decent meplat, and may I suggest 50/50 alloy(coww/range scrap/pure) powder coated and more than likely gas checked. I plan on hunting whitetails this season with my .303 British using PP boolits, of fairly soft bhn. Been working on those for a while too. Got a Lachmiller 174gr. Flat point mould on loan from my father. Works pretty good with the PP. - Caster

I have used a lino wheel weight 1 to 5 mix for years with good luck I don't have range scrap really where I live other than what I get of my own shooting lane there isn't really shooting ranges where I live most people just shoot on there own property here

Another load I tried today worked well if your looking for good higher power charge is 23.7 gr of win 748 my crony was not working well today but over all groups were 1.25 MOA at 100 yards I powder coat my bullets with 2 thin coats after sizing they go back in to a tumbler with HBN and air soft pellets I have no fouling and very little powder residue

Just kinda curious , but why back into the tumbler after sizing? I have only ever given my boolits one coat of powder,size ,load and shoot. You have a certain reason for doing so? Shoot maybe i am missing something that i shouldnt be. lol. Whatever the case it seems your on the right track and getting great results. Good shooting and carry on sir. - CASTER
