I bought a Cimmarron model P JR. about a year ago in .38 Special and noticed that it was marked ".38 Special and .38 Long Colt" on the barrel.

Now, I have always thought that the .38 Special case is a little too long to accommodate mild loads, as the loading density is too low for good accurate results. This is just my theory, so please...humor me.

So I bought some .38 Long Colt brass, which is about 1/8" shorter than .38 Sp. brass and started shooting it as a .38 LC exclusively. So far I've had good results.

The problem is that I am just fussy enough that I don't want to shoot typical bullets that the .38 Sp. calls for, but the 150 gr. RN FP that the .38 LC was loaded with. In other words, since it is a period cartridge, I want to load period ammo for it.

So, do any of you guys know who makes this bullet in .358-.359 diameters? :)

150-grain LRN .361" for .38 S&W and .38 Long Colt, Matt can size smaller if you want.

If you want to cast your own, Accurate has several period-style bullets which are appropriate and have adequate lube capacity to prevent fouling out in long strings of fire and in rifle-length barrels using Goex powder:
