For some unknown reason I've got the itch for a bolt action in .243. I was wondering if anyone has shot cast in one?

Have had good luck with the 85 gr. Lovern style blt at between 1900-2100 fps, cast hard (bh-22 plus) and LARS Red Lube. The blts longer than that will not stablize in my rifles. Pleasant to shoot.

My experience mirrors 1shirt's except for the velocity (mine is lower). You may want to consider these powders with the 87gr. Loverin CB (Ly. #245496): IMR 4227, H/IMR 4198, AA 5744, VV N133, WC 820. 13grs. - 15grs. of any of them work well. Also, Carpetman & Dep. Al have got excellent results with the RCBS 95gr. (105gr.?) spire point CB @ 1,900fps or faster.

I have done limited work with the 85 gr. boolit and 14 gr. 4198. Shows promise, but needs more work. Time has been in short supply and it's been unusually windy even for the Texas Panhandle. DALE
