Question about siamese mauser

I have a Siamese Mauser that I am thinking about selling and the question I have is this. I know they were made at the Tokyo Arsenal but I don't know if they were made before or after 1898. If it was made before 1898 it does not need to go thru a dealer. My rifle was converted to 45-70 many years ago. I don't know if that would matter in the sale either.

I believe these were model 1902's so that would indicate they were made after 1898. Also if they are not original, they do not qualify as a C&R or an antique.

You're welcome! If it were me, I'd keep it. I have two stock ones, one in 8X50 and one in 8x52 and two 45-70 that I built and one action that will probably be a 50 Alaskan. If you must dispose of it, maybe you should send it to me. As I go though my list, it clear that I do not have enough of these old things. :)

Siamese Mausers are one of those that are specifically mentioned as being able to handle higher pressures.

I don't think they handle high pressure different than any other M98 in good working condition, they "handle" rimmed cartridges.

I've had a C&R for 20 years and as far as I know any firearm ( not class 3) over 50 years old qualifies as C&R. Of course that is ATF policy. You must also check state laws.
