Finally got my mold and melted lead together. Was having a harder than normal time with the mold when I checked the diameter of the holes on the sprue plate. Turns out they were undersized. Switched out with a backup plate I had and problems disappeared. After casting I drilled out the holes and dressed the back/bottom of the plate so it is smooth

Only problem then was keeping pot full of lead and up to temperature. Was runnning 2 .38 6-hole molds as well as the .314 mold. Now I get to size the 30 lbs I cast.

I hear ya, sir. Running the Lyman #452374 4-banger at the same time as the Lee 45-310 WFN, the RCBS pot draws down pretty quickly--and there's a nice pile of castings in a short time, too. On another thread, there's discussion of a 6-cavity 400 grain 45 rifle boolit--talk about a pot-drainer!

Deputy Al, how well do you like that 310 gr Lee bullet and any good recipies that might get me going in the right direction with it?
