Making its first appearance in the Ideal Handbook No.17 (1906), this handy little tool was last seen in the final printing (1947) of the Lyman/Ideal Handbook No.34. They are not seen very often, and are quite often mis-identified (or not identified at all) due to a total lack of markings other than being marked on the connecting link for the specific cartridge.

This one carries the stamp "30-45", indicating it was made for priming and de-priming the .30-45 Springfield headless (aka .30-1903, predecessor of the .30-'06), but works equally well for .30-'06 or .308 Winchester.

An early announcement and description of the tool appeared in the March-April 1905 issue of The Journal of the Military Service Institution:

I have one of those.

I also saw one eBay last week. Don't know if it has sold or not.

I have one that some one cut the decapping rod off. Left a short spud that looks to be a neck expander now.

I've got one for a 30-40 IIRC and another that I believe fits the 30-30/38-55 family of case heads. I got the latter as a backup for loading 32-40s in Schuetzen events. They look pretty cool but really need to be mounted to something (bench, loading box, etc.)
