I attended the Ohio Gun Collectors Ass'n Show at Wilmington, Ohio today. It was not quite as well attended as usual (summer shows normally are down a bit). The prices seemed a bit high, also. However, there were LOTS of interesting items there.

I broke down and bought an "As New" 686 (6") square butt, pre-lock .357. I have had a 4" RB CS-1 for many years. Now it will no longer be "lonesome":). I probably paid too much but I have been looking for one and had the money. If it is not worth the price now, it'll probably be next week...

I made a really good score. A gentleman had sold his `16-4 S&W .32 and had 9 boxes of Hornady 90 gr .32 SWC's for sale. I know that they aren't cast boolits, but they ARE lead:mrgreen:. I didn't realize quite how good a deal until I got home. I DID know that for that price I wasn't going to cast boolits in 94 degree weather! The price was 4500 bullets for $99.00. Then I had to take them to the van - the gentleman was kind enough to loan me his little cart. It sure made things easier (the dern things weighed about sixty pounds)! Yeah, I know, they were as heavy as if they were made of lead:mrgreen::mrgreen:

So, in spite of the temperature, I had a great day! In addition, I took a friend who has been suffering from serious cancer (is on Chemo) and he had a good time too. He also had a good day at the trade table. He sold a handgun at a tidy profit. Taking everything together, made the whole trip more than worthwhile.

That was a good deal on the bullets. I may go up there tomorrow, luckily I dont have a 32 or I would have been distressed for not going today ;)

The best part about these hot days is you can lube/size without the heater........

Good on you Uncle Dale! Those little 90 SWC swaged jobs are real handy to have around. I keep a box on the shelf at all times.

I don't suppose you would want to send a box of those .32s to me for a nice profit???? :mrgreen::mrgreen:

Good score!

I'm waiting on my new to me S&W 31-1 to get here. :-D

Life is good!

There were a number of decent values, yesterday. I almost succumbed to a Model 14 Smith custom job. It had a heavy 6" barrel (for PPC) with a Bomar Rib and had 100% engraving, a complete action job, and a really nice blue job for about $1050. It was really a steal, considering the engraving and all. It was all done by a "name" gunsmith for his personal gun (I believe the story). It also looked like new!

Dale;
Lordy! I salivate over a highly tuned revolver such as you describe. I can feel it in the hand!

Yeah, me too. I am generally a "sucker" for match guns. However, I had just bought the 686 and for me both would serve the same purpose. I am reasonably certain I could have made a bit on the custom job, but...

We had a family reunion that weekend, and both Saturday and Sunday were taken. I'll be at the September show though. Not sure yet if I'll be there on the 20th or the 21st. I'll have the wife in tow. She has never been to an OGCA show. I go crazy over the original flintlocks, tomahawks and vintage knives. That is truly vintage porn to be enjoyed !! If it's old and uses flints .... I like it !!
