Just thought some of you folks might want to see some of my cast boolits for my .585 Hubel Express. They are WW 780 grain and 1150 grain. Recoil is a problem with the more powerful loads as the big 1150 grain calculates to over 300 ft, lbs. of recoil and I have not the nerve to touch this baby off until I can mitigate some of that force. For scale, starting from the left is a .458 500grain, a 405 grain 44 cal followed by a 350, a 320, a 245, and a 232 grain 44 cal.

Whoah! Those are some Big Kahunas. ;)
LOL

Very impressed! Please show some video if ya can, when ya get to shooting them. I think it would be great to see if one could not be right there and see it!
:)

Thanks for sharing!

Those 500's are hard on the Pb stash...huh? 14 per pound...I'd be casting and cringing at the same time . . . :bigsmyl2:

Those are awesome. Impressive scale with the "normal" sized boolits in view.

Will you PC those too?

Get about 6 1/2 boolits to the pound with the big one. No squirrels here but we have the wily mongoose. Going to try to shoot through a big tree and kill a pig so it has a sporting chance. Was using my contender chambered in 444 marlin with 405-grain boolits and 45/70 contender with 500 grain cast boolits to cartwheel pigs as the ran downhill away from me. great fun!

Got some photos but can't seem to put them up. Don't know how I got the first one, could use some help.

I'd be afraid to touch that off also, even the "little" 780 grainers. Maybe we have reached the limit of human capability.

Finally got my son to post the pictures on as I could not do it the normal way. Here are the 780 grain and 1150 grain bullets powder coated came out like wet glass not shown is the 24 ga. cardboard wads gorilla glued to the base as gas checks. Should be able to get these to a screaming velocity without too much trouble other than the recoil. Top loads beat the 577 T Rex by almost 500fps will video a few people and myself shooting at some point. Have a custom push through sizing die for proper fit. Photo has 124 grain 9mm and 232 grain 45acp cast and .30 carbine round for scale. Also wentokick, shoot me your address and I'll send you one of each of the bullets when I can, sorry can't spare more maybe later. Sorry about photo quality not a good picture taker.

Hmm... mitigating recoil?

Well, just thinking out loud here, so to speak, but I'd think you'd be fairly safe if you stagger the shots if firing broadside. I could see a salvo might just roll your ship right on over.

You didn't say if you had the guns mounted on individual carriages or two or three per turret?

A powered mounting, maybe a surplus from a 40mm Bofors from WW2 might hold it.

When I was young and dumb I would be the first in line to touch one of those monsters off..... Now that I'm older and learned a lot of stuff the hard way, I don't believe I'd want to play with your toys........

 I know.I have too much time on my hands, but how about a pair of semi autos mounted in a hydraulic dampened powered mount for when the mad mongoose infantry does a mass charge at ya?By the by,I sure hope that you own stock in a lead processor operation.
Good luck.Have fun.Be safe.

Next time you cast you might offer to send each of us a boolit or 2 for a fee. Maybe we can help you pay for more lead :)
