I have a sharp 40-65 win rifle and have tried the postal 400grer,sized to .410 with spg lube, gorex ff bp. also 5744, the gun has a 16 twist. I would like to try a shorter and lighter boolit, looking at rcbs's 300gr or 350gr. to shoot out 300yrds.
Looking for advice on a good boolite mold to get? I'ts about 80 bucks for mold and top punch from midsouth and I want tobe right.

WHAT?? You WANT to be RIGHT! Where is your explorative spirit? How can you NOT want to gamble on some NEW toys. I really don't have any idea what can/would work, but the 40-65 is another dream for me.

.................I have the RCBS 400 and 300 gr moulds. Both are excellent designs but I shoot mostly the 300 gr one. I really have no use for the ballistics ability of the 400 gr boolit. Started at the same velocity the 300 gr in the 40-65 is ballisticly similar to the 405gr in the 45-70 (assuming reasonably similar shapes). Mine is a Pedersoli RB and it has a 16" twist also.
