I'm seeking data for 6x47 Remington with a 95 grain RCBS bullet and Blue Dot, Unique, Bulls Eye, 748, 2400, 296 or Tite Group powder. I'm trying to stay under 1600 FPS

My rifle is a 40X with a 1-14 twist. I'm thinking this twist might be too slow to stabilize this bullet at 1600 FPS or at any speed?

I have several loading manuals, none have data for cast bullets in 6X47 Remington.

If you can, get a copy of, Ken Waters, Pet loads. Ken did a great article on loading the 6x47 in a 40x and hundreds of others. That was with jacketed.

For cast I believe a safe starting point would be the data for cast in the 222 mag. your pressure will be lower because of larger bore. your 1x14 barrel will help you get way above 1600 if you choose to do so. I would use the fastest of the powders listed for your staying under 1600.

If that RCBS mold doesn't do well for you Take a look at the NOE 75-76 gr FN . the NOE shoots great in many 6mms and 243s in my family.

Your 6x47 is .1CC less usable case capacity than a 6mm PPC according to the LEE manual. The 4th Lyman has data for the 6PPC with 85gr, because of very close case capacities any start load for PPC would be good start load for you.

Do you own a chronograph?

I load for 6 X 47; have for almost 35 years. Mine is a 14" Contender. I found that the heaviest it would stabilize was the Speer 85 gr Spitser BT. I loaded with H-322 for a lot of years, then moved on to several others in the same burn range. Hornady books had data for it, my newest is #7 and it is in there. Good cartridge. I took a lot of varmints with the Hornady 70 & 75 gr. and took a couple mule deer with the Speer 85 gr.

Gentlemen, thanks for the response and great ideas. I do have Ken Waters load data somewhere, and like the 40XB Ken writes about, mine has a very long throat that results in. What I consider, insufficient grip on the bullet, when seated touching the lands. The bullets were, a 75 grain Sierra, 69 grain Sierra and 60 grain Burger, all very short flat base bullets. Loaded with 748 dropped from my RCBS powder measure. they grouped about 1"

I may have some flat base 85 grain moly bullets in my stash, I'll try them along with a 95 grain cast and see what happens.

Using 222 magnum or 6 mm PPC data as a starting point is a great idea. I made the cases from 222 mag opened up with an 'M' die.

Thanks again, Phillip.

I was looking for a 6MM TCU when I found the 6X47. I used 223 cases and 6MM TCU data when I first started out as 222 R.M. cases just weren't around, then I found 100 nickel plated Federal Match 6X47 cases that had been run off in the late 60's; so I was told. Correct head stamp and all, then about 1982 Remington did a run of 222 Mag cases and today all is well.
