I was pondering buying a big bore AR type rifle, if you have any experience with one fill me in on the in's and outs. The use will be mainly hunting medium and large game, and of course who doesn't like to shoot big balls of lead at paper. Thanks in advance.

Please define big bore. I have a lovely Sig 716 308 that I am beginning to cast for.

I've got 9 or so AR's so far that meet that requirement. Only shot cast in 4 of them so far. Been using jacketed so far for hunting, but tried some 208gr bullets cast by member KLR in a 357AR (max-rimless). He suggested I join Cast Boolits . I want to hopefully switch over to mainly cast in the medium/big bore AR's, especially for the .430" bore ones. I've read through many posts for guys with 450 bushmasters or 50 Beowulf but am still trying to figure every thing out as so far it seems much less forgiving that casting auto or revolver plinking ammo which is mainly what I've done the past 25+ years. Here's the first target shot with some cast .358" 208GR FN bullets KLR sent me to try. Worked well enough I got the mold and a lubrisizer.

It is a straighten/ blown out 223 case they use for 357 max rimless I believe, same bolt.

It uses a carbine length gas system, and a standard BCG. http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?312313-357AR-(Max-Rimless)-AR15
