300 gr at 1440 was a hand full in a SRH.
I would squint and shudder before firing those in any handgun.
Guess I'm not as young and bullet proof as I once thought I was.

Elmer Keith blew up a Colt during a 4th of July celebration. He had sized a 458 400 grainer down to seat in a 45 Colt case. Obviously the gun was not up to his imagination.

.444marlin and .44mag are normally same sized barrels within a thousandth or 2.

I have a 220 gr .44 mag mold that shoots great out of my .444.

Doing it the other way around, well it is going to have recoil for sure. With the right powder, possible I would say. Would probably make a very effecting pistol hunting load.

I love 300 grainers in a SRH. In my Rossi 92 with steel crescent butplate, not so much. Especially from a bench.

I'm interested in a load like this for my 77/44. It needs to be under 1.61oal though. I wonder if using 44spl brass would be a better alternative.
