I've played around with loading 38 spl WC ammo, on and off for years. It seems I always had one issue or another, whether it was with commercial cast or my own boolits, and lastly seating die/technique?

I think I finally got it nailed down...these were some I tested last saturday. I was real happy with accuracy, as well as expansion and weight retention. Alloy was a soft range scrap (BHN 9), and of the 6 recover boolits, one lost 10gr and the others only lost 2gr or less. Load was 2.9gr of Bullseye.

As I near the end of my stock of 9mm powder coated I'll return to my larger stock of lubed. These are 122 grain powder coated and 124 grain lubed bullets. Both are sized to .356. The rounds contain Winchester 231 powder. Click on photo to make it larger.

The Rossi 44 seems to like LBT's 280 grain WFN bullet with RandyRat's silver-gray powder coat. And since I don't use a photo hosting "service" you have to click on the pic to see full-size (as with jb44mag's picture above).

And after looking at I realize the cropping is bad. But what do you expect from a pic taken and edited on an iPhone

This one isn't for the contest. Forgot I had made, poorly, this photo a while back.

Picture from quite awhile back as I no longer use nickle plated brass :-) Both the 300 & 340gr slugs shoot very well in an old model stainless Vaquero. Oddly enough they also shoot very well in a M92 Rossi rifle (24" Octagon) bbl with it's 30 something inch twist. Groups at 50 yards ran to 2.5" for five rounds. Possibly at 100 yards they might span 3', but who knows? With old Mk1 Mod1 eyeball detectors and the open sights that in itself might just be wasted effort. The Lee's were merely Tumble Lubed then sent up through a .454" die. The Lyman's were lube-sized .459" and then up through the Lee die.

Very good coverage. I actually cut my PCing teeth with it. Bought it from SMOKE, and wasn't thinking about the learning curve. In this case what learning curve. Smash test was hard to see if it flaked ,or chipped off ,but under loupe magnification never once has it failed. It is basically my stand alone PC now.
