Lee 124gn truncated cone, Star Modelo Super.
Works better than ball.

I like to stick with the 122 to 125 grain boolits. Tried the heavy ones. Several things I didn't like about them.

Saeco 122gr tcfp and H&G #309 are the two I shoot. Lots of bullets out their. The H&G is the same shape as a Hornady 124gr fmj-fp. Depends upon what you're planning on shooting as to the shape. I choose the FP's because they blast big holes. The H&G has a much larger meplat than the Saeco.

I've an old S&W 659 and a Taurus 92. Nothing with target accuracy in a 9mm.

i loaded a bunch of lee 125gr 2R for a buddy of mine to shoot in his glock 19 (he had an after market wolf barrel to allow him to shoot lead). now that he's come to his senses and traded the 9mm for a 1911 i use then for target loads in the wife's .357 (loaded backwards for full WC effect).

H&G #309 on the left and Saeco #377. Ballisti-Cast sells the #309 as #909.
Note the smaller BB on the Saeco.

I like the looks of the Lee bullets too.

Lee 356 124 2RTL, great mould, drops an d .360, so I can use them in either 38Spl or 9mm, whichever sizer I use. Tumble lube with Lee Liquid Alox, good stuff.

I use the Lee 356-120-TC. Drops boolits at .358 - .359, and I size to .358. They shoot great in my Hi-point carbine.
I tried the 358-105-SWC and they shot good but do not feed in the carbine (get hung up on the swc shoulder). Stick with the TC in a bottom feeder.
Also, I would highly recommend getting the 6 cavity mold. Makes lots of perfect boolits FAST.

I like the Lyman 4 bullet mold # 356637. On Lyman's website it states - "Designed for IPSC shooting, is a tapered heavy weight 9mm." I have been real happy with this bullet mold.

Lee 120gr. And it drops at .359. I size at .358 and shoot through my Hi Power.

My most used boolit is the Lee 356-125-2R. I have this in a 6 banger and it works great.

I also have used the Saeco FP and the Lee 105 with good results.

The comment about "target" accuracy is about right unless you select the right pistol and do a bunch of case "prep / selection" when you load.

I have a pet load I like but wish I had a boolit more suited it than the Lee RNL. If and when I find / make a boolit that does what I want I'll post results.

In the mean time those boolits posted above should give you everything you need.

I like the Lyman 356477 @ 153 grains, sized 356, with 700x for a sigma 9mm. Runs flawlessly, minute of pie plate @ 20 yards. Cheap to shoot.

While we're on the topic and all the minds are present, I have a couple related questions:

Does anyone have experience with the LY 356634 130 grainer? It's awfully hard to find data for this, and the charges of slower burning propellants (AA #7 for instance) don't look right. I'm interested in your pet loads and cartridge OAL for those.

Docone31: Do you have more than one of the Spaniards? Do they tend to like shorter cartridge lengths in general? The Lee 125 2R would be my first choice for my Firestar, since I've had such great performance from the Lee RN styles in 45 ACP.

Even though I have a bunch of 9mm components, it's such in diminutive pain in the neck that I really don't care to load for it. Does it improve with familiarity?

Thanks in advance.

You are right about the Star, it really only likes ball ammo. I polished the feed ramp, and on the two other clips I got, I modified the mag keeper and lips. I have a Firestorm also. It loves the Lee 200gn flat nose.
I haven't found any issues with the chambers however. They are pretty much dead on to specs. The rifleing entry is sharp, and flat.
All in all, they like castings.

Hey dwtim, I have a 4 cav Ly 356634 that drops 138 gr with ww, which is loaded with 5,5 gr of W540 @ 1.075" col.
Our favorite bullet though is the old Lee 356 153 2R - to maximize the diminutive.
Reloading the 9mm is best on a progressive press with minimal case handling. Try loading the 32 ACP for a while to gain perspective and appreciation!

I see that a lot of you guys are fond of the TCs in the 9-iron. I have a 124-grain Ohaus 2-cav mould that I’m looking to get rid of if anyone wants to make me an offer. Originally I was looking for a SWC mould in trade, but since I had no takers on that, I just ordered the new SWC mould that I wanted. I’d swap the ol’ Ohaus for a pile of wheel weights or something like that if anyone has an interest in it.

Those Star Supers are one of my all time favorites. Unfortunately, the barrel in mine is a bit pitted, so she doesn’t like to see a lot of cast go through her. If yours is doing well with lead then I assume you have a good clean barrel. Did you get it that way or did you swap out the original for a new one? If you swapped it out, where did you find the new one? I keep hearing rumors about some guy that advertises in the back of the shotgun news selling them, but I took a look there with no luck. I’m not real sure where else to look.

I really like the Star Super. I am lucky, the barrel is pristine. I polished the feed port and ramp.
I am a little restricted with it though. It only likes ball ammo. I even removed the loaded chamber indicator. That helped a little.
With the cast truncated cone however, it smiles.
I am looking for stock magazines, or any magazines that will work. I got some from Numerich Arms, but I had to modify them to make them work. I guess they were made for the Largo rather than the Luger round.
I agree with liking it. She is a sweet pistol to shoot. Tight, accurate, and feels right.

Lee 358 -105-SWC sized to .357 FN High Power.

Another vote for that bullet. Except I size 'em to .356 for my gun and user Red Carnuba Lube. :)

Kind of like a 1911 that went on a diet to slim down a bit...& no beavertail safety...I like her too.

Your best bet for mags is probably Sarco. If they don't have them, then I don't know where else to point you.

I use the Lee 124gr TC. I load it with 5.2gr Unique and a Federal small pistol primer. I shoot it out of my Springfield 1911A1 9mm

I use that in my Springfield 1911A1 9mm with 6.0gr Unique and 50/50 Beeswax/alox lube. Shoots like a dream. I cast them out of WW and add 5% tin to it. I size them .355"
