Wow, another 9.3×64 guy. You will be welcomed to using one of the rarest of the rare. Lots of true wildcats are much more common. My advice, lay in All the brass you plan to use in your lifetime at least . Maybe more. It's a wonderful and frustrating round. Hopefully yours will be as lucky a rifle as mine is. Everything has been a 1 shot kill. It will do anything that the 375 will with a little less powder. I haven't run any cast boolits thru mine yet. I need to get another couple hundred rounds of new brass first.

I have a good cast bullet load for my Ruger No.1 9.3x74R. I did not want to invest in custom bullets molds, sizing dies, and gas checks. Paper patched .358 cast bullets seem to satisfy everything. With a Saeco #352 mold and wheel weight alloy I cast a .358 bullet. With two wraps of vellum tracing the diameter is 0.367-0.368. Finished weight is 250 gr. A thin coat of Johnson's Paste Wax is applied for lubricant. Cases are neck expanded with a Lyman 9.3mm M-die and loaded to 2500 fps. The powders I have used are Varget, Reloader No.15, IMR-4064. All work well. My favorite load is 57.0 gr. of IMR 4064. The accuracy of these paper patched bullets is the same as the jacketed bullets that I have tried. Check out the Paper-Patch section of this forum for more details.

I shot a wild boar with one of these bullets. Before he dropped in his tracks he said, "Ah, ba-dee ba-dee ba-dee, that’s all folks!"

I use the NOE 280 in my 9.3x74. Accurate and cheap shooting.

ok, the 9.3 is not that rare, even if it came to the point that you couldn't get it here,( which it wont) this is the internet age, and that is like our 308 or 270(as far as popularity goes) in Africa, europe and austrailia! and by the way do you mean the 9.3X62mauser? or 9.3X74

Ya see , Thats the thing . It's RARE ! He is talking about the 9.3×64 Brenneke. And 9.3×64 Brenneke brass can't be made from anything but 9.3×64 Brenneke .

In the Whole World . The 376 Styer is made from 9.3×64 B brass. But its chopped too short to do anything with.

Which really sucks because necked up to take a .410" bullet . with a 25° shoulder it would make a slightly magnumized 400 Whelan .

ahhh I see, you do have a good point there, I have had a lot of people ask me why I want a 9.3X62, because " it's rare, hard to get brass, lol"

is there any particular reason you are having it built in the 64 as opposed to the 62 or 57mm?

The 64 equals the 375 H&H. It runs about 200 fps faster than the 62 . 300 fps faster than the 57.
If a guy is shooting only cast then its a moot point but with good tough jacketed or mono metal bullets. They really let it use its velocity.

ah, I see, what about making an improved 9.3X62, like an Ackley?, im not talking to you, nemesis, you know what you want and I think the 9.3X64 would be super cool! I am just asking everyone in general, wouldn't that do about the same?

I built two 9.3x64's for no particular reason along with two 9.3x62's.I even purchased the rifling button for the barrel maker. They are nice cartridges and don't have a belted case.I need to get a mould for them.I normally use Speer jacketed bullets in them.

Cold Trigger Finger,

Actually 9.3x64 CAN be made from another case (I know a reloader from VA, who does reform .45 Basic brass & started doing that in the 1950s.) BUT it's a REAL PITA to do so. = It's MUCH easier to just BUY the factory cases from a vendor & save yourself a LOT of trouble. = .45 basic cases aren't cheap either.

KenT7021,

NICE to find another 9.3mm addict.
(My favorite rifle is a Remington 760 as rebored/rechambered by JES.)

Ackley Improving the 9.3×62 Mauser really won't gain anything . Reaming a long throat and using a 3.6" mag box will let either hold more powder. But, Thats not really what the 62 is all about. It does a super job as it is . From most all account's, it kills as well as the 375 H&H . with less recoil and muzzle blast. It kills like the 35 Whelan does. But it predates those carts. One reason the 64 B didn't really take off was few bullets could handle the increased velocity. They just weren't tough enough.
Not that we have so many truely Great bullets the 64 B can work in it's own right.
With my 21.5" barrel and a book load ( Nosler book ) I get 2750 fps with the 250 gr TSX . which is 200 fps more than I'm getting with the 250 gr TTSXBT from my 375 Whelan Ackley Improved.
With the 286 gr bullets I get 2650 fps I suspect that with the 300 gr Swift A-Frame I would get around 2600 fps .

Nemesis and I have a lot in common. We both appreciate those "off the beaten path" calibers. Years ago I got lucky and bought an original Newton rifle chambered for his big bore 35 Newton cartridge. Dies were available but pricey. How I got them is another story all by itself. Brass was a challenge, none had been made in over 60 years. Early on I removed the belt from various belted magnum caliber cases to have something / anything to reform for loading ammo. Then came the 375 Ruger caliber. Same head diameter, web diameter, no belt, only required sizing and trimming. The rifle follows the European design by being rather light for the caliber. Recoil gets one's attention and respect. However....getting to show it and explain it to others is priceless.
