Took it upon myself to build a 50 yard line in the back yard and as part of the project, a bullet deflector/target frame. Thought it might be of small interest to a few here, so the pic will pretty much speak for itself. Angle sections are 1", target backer tracks are 1/2" angel iron, deflector is 1/2" AR400. The bucket affair on the backside of the deflector plate will hold sand to reduce the clang of a bullet strike. Total weight is around 100#, Dims are 18" square on the face.

One of the benefits of handloading and casting is the ease of crafting subsonic loads in a variety of guns. Lacking a suppressor for most that I shoot, I chose to build a baffle box to reduce muzzle blast. It is 5' long, 15" on a side and has 6 baffles. The interior is lined with insulating foam. The hole in the end is 5" diameter and first baffle is 6" past that. A .357 mag can be discharged with the muzzle just past the first interior baffle without need for hearing protection.

Looks neat to me. Let us know how rifles do through it.

Ok....it was a .357 Mag rifle I referred to. Sounds a bit like "Plonnk". Not quite as loud as my Ex when she was correcting me about something or another. SV .22 LR make kind of a "Plockk" sound. One still hears a bit of muzzle blast when shooting thru the box, but it is not loud. Standing off to the side while another shoots...it is surprisingly muted. The neighbors will not have a clue what they are hearing...assuming their hearing aids are turned on.

Try lining it with egg crates or a fire proof carpet foam material. this will break up the sound waves and or vibrations really muting the sound level.
