Finally got the OK to let it be known that I will be a Grandfather later in the year:drinks:. Daughter gave me a present that when I opened it was a book "How to train your Grandpa". Gave her the eye and asked "are you trying to tell me something:?
She said "nope, thought you might need it one of these days". Looked at my SIL and he was grinning from ear to ear. Looked back at the daughter and told her it wasn't nice to fib to her Dad!! No tears, but got choked up a bit, wife did let loose the tears.

Going to be a new experience as it will be the first Grandchild!!

I have 2 soon to be 3 later this year. Grandchildren are your reward. Enjoy them all you can take them fishing, hunting, shooting, to the park and walks in the woods and fields. Teach them the awe and respect for all of Gods creatures and his miracles. Teach them to notice their surroundings and all the little things.

Get Ready rockrat. This is the funnest part. Congratulations. We just a while ago got the schedule for the wee one's soccer games starting next week. Daughter-in-law said I know it is a long way for you to come for a 40 minute game. We said are you kidding! We wouldn't miss it!

Congrats rockrat! Shortly before our first granddaughter arrived, I started stocking up on 22 single shots. #6&7 arrived mid-December and I have to admit I might be behind a bit.
Plan ahead, and enjoy every second!

Let me add my congratulations also. We are expecting our 9th sometime in June.

My wife does what has become known as the "Grandma Dance". Although it has slowed down a bit.

Words cannot express the joy grandchildren are. Congratulations! I have 11 of them from 8 months to 12 years. I call them my minions. Interestingly enough when my children were little I was known to bite them back when they bit others, youngest grandson bit me a few weeks ago and my middle son (the childs father) looked at me and said "Bite him back"... I couldn't do it, he gave me a hard time about it lol. That's his job, not mine. My job is to spoil them and conspire with them, as my Grandfather did with me. If my grandchildren miss me as much as I miss him when he and I are reunited I will have done my job properly.

Rockrat, congratulations. The fun starts now and only gets better with time. We have one granddaughter (from our oldest daughter), and a grandson coming in about 4 months from our youngest daughter. You probably remember the Art Linkletter show "Kids Say the Darnedest Things". Our granddaughter hit us with one of those the other day. Her grandmother asked what she had been doing lately. The 3-year old's answer came as "I'm playing t-ball and nasties." Grand-mom asks "HUUUH??? Same response. Quick translation for a child with a typical 3-year old's limited vocabulary skills, t-ball and gymnastics. This one is going to stick around for a long time. If she ever gets too full of herself we can remind her what she said and slow her down a bit.

One of the greatest things in the world. We just got our second. Now if I can just get my daughter married off. She did bring her young man home from Texas last weekend. I approve, if it matters. GW

I got that news over 19 years ago and it is live changing. Three times since then and every time it's special.
Now get busy and stock up supplies for your new shooter.
This is the beginning of the rest of your life.
