Did Marlin make any Guide guns with Microgroove rifling? I see they're making them now without barrel ports.

I think that was supposed to be one of their selling points, Ballard rifling. I can't recall ever seeing any described as having anything else. Obviously the ported barrels didn't last long. I have one without ports in 45/70, and love it. Shoots the Lyman 457122 very well.

I have one of the early ones that has the microgroove barrel and ports. For an off-hand gun I have no problem hitting a bouncing milk jug at 100 yards using peep sites but man that thing is LOUD! I think that is why they got rid of the ports. I have not had a chance to shoot one without the ports to see if it reduces muzzle jump or recoil.
