Found this old ideal 429 421 in a bunch of stuff that my father in law abandoned. Cleaned it up a tiny bit and just couldn't wait to cast some bullets! Took a while for it to warm up, but when it did, I cast about 50 of these! Also made about 200 lbs of coww ingots. Hope to run a few more tomorrow! Just had to share my excitement!

Haha thank you! And I hope so! I'm using a lighter charge of herco to see how my leading is. I actually had a hard time finding data for this bullet. Any one want to share? Lol

Nice find and save of a great mold. It is my favorite for my 44 mag shooting. For a nice load I use 10gr of Unique.

Thanks wcp4570! I'll have to find some unique the next time I'm in our sporting goods store.

I've run it on top of 8.5-9.5 gr of unique and on top of 7grs of 231.
I've also used 10grs of herco and 800-x and a bit more of the steel powder.

I mostly use it in the 44 special on top of 7grs of unique anymore.
i'll probably switch that load out to bulls-eye or 231 next go around.

You sir have my favorite 44 mold......it has served me well and you will love it more and more as you let the lead fly!

Well I had 9 gr of herco in my test loads, fired fine, did notice a small difference in recoil compared to my regular 10 gr with 240 cast... I'm hoping it was just me but they didn't seem as accurate for hitting softball sized rocks at about 40 yards. I'll have to try some more! I was able to cast about 50 more this morning...

I also think my lubrisizer die may be due for an upgrade. Bullets I sized yesterday were .430, and my slug from my 629 is .4295-.430. So who knows
