Hello all,I have been lurking around the site for a couple years and have gained alot of knowledge from reading over many topics which helped get me started reloading. It's become my new addiction since last summer and I decided to finally join and contribute to pay back for all of the help i've gotten from the outside looking in. I also need to keep up on my brass supply, which I am sure the classifieds section will help me with. :)I don't cast any bullets on my own, except for buckshot and round balls for my shotguns. But that may change. I mostly load 38 Special and 44 Special/Mag for both levergun and revolver. I'm a younger guy, but I love those classic cartridges and find that they handle all of my shooting needs. It's been alot of fun retracing Keith and Skeltons steps with the 44 and finding myself shooting the same Bullseye loads in 38 special that they were 100 years ago. Anyhow, thought I'd introduce myself and give thanks and look forward to future discussions.

Welcome sir! And get a notebook for all you learn here! As a fellow .44 maniac I will suggest the big lee 430-310 mold, if you have barrels that will stabilize it, some won't than it's a keeper for sure, from high doses of h110 or w296 of "cooler" 2400 loads I've found it to shoot well across the board Redhawks black hawk 7 and 4 5/8, winny 94 that my daughter has used to take all of her deer to the new to me contender it's a thumper and surprisingly accurate! Just my opinion others mileage may vary but the 44 starts to turkey shine at 265 grains and up!

Thanks nagantguy!

I've got a Marlin 1894 with the slllloooowww twist. I don't shoot anything above a 240-250 Keith, but if it's possible to go heavier and be accurate i'm all ears!

It's a try and see type thing, I was assured the 10 inch encore with 1:20 wouldn't stabilize the heavies but serious clover leaf groups at 50 yards, not all will some will and all might sometimes!

Your biggest problem with your Marlin will be COL. Really like my Lyman Keith mold but it has a COL of 1.70+/-. Way too long for the Marlin. I had some cast boolits that I got at least 3rd hand that loaded to SAMMI length. Problem is I don't know where they came from. If anyone knows of a 240-260 g mold that loads tp standard length please let everyone know. Welcome Squidbilly!
