View Full Version : Some days I really hate Amazon...

Ordered a Lyman M Die for .38/.357. Two days later Amazon delivers a .40/10MM die. Ask for a replacement and two days later they deliver one for a .30 M1. Seems some mouth breather put Amazon inventory labels on one end of the box without looking at the other end of the box.

Currently on chat with Amazon CS trying to get this solved.

One other time in 17 years I've had the same thing happen with a different item. Took four tries to get the right one.

Geez. That's pretty bad. I'd be irritated after the first one. Miffed at the second one.

I'm beyond miffed. I may keep the .40 as I can always use that one. I've never used a Lyman M die. If I like it I'll keep the one I can use.

You can get the expander plugs from Al Nelson at NOE. I bought the Lee Universal expander and get the proper plugs from NOE.

I know he has them for the Lee. Do those also fit the Lyman?

No. Different style. He may have Lyman style expander plugs, I don't know, but I always find something to drool over when I visit his website.

I have had the same thing happen to me with amazon, but with lee 2 cavity molds I ended up with a 312-185 and a 309-170fp when I ordered a 358-158tl... ended up they had me keep the two wrong molds and where out of stock of the one I ordered. So I went to midway. At least they do a good job of trying to keep the customers happy..

Yup, I try to stay with MidwayUSA or eBay <gasp!> unless you have to.

I no longer buy from Amazon, because of their political position and their vocal lack of support for the president. I vote with my wallet...

Amazon is just the store front. The products come from other vendors, chew on them.

The Lyman M Dies say sold by Amazon LLC. This falls squarely on Amazon.

Anyone want to hazard a guess what was delivered today?

Either the .38 m-die you asked for originally or perhaps one for a .25 Remington?

Another 10mm/.40 S&W.

Do you get to keep it?

I might keep one of them since I load 10mm.

Remember what Forrest Gump's mother said . .. "sometimes you just can't fix stupid'. Probably the individual pulling the inventory to send is "reloading challenged" and doesn't know a widget from a wombat.

Hopefully you'll get what you need but I think I'd be trying another supplier. I use M-dies for my rifles and they work great - sort of like a shoehorn for boolits. Pistol should work just as well. Good luck and I hope you get what you need.

NOE does carry the lee universal expander that can be used with his expanders by replacing the Lee expander spuds with his.

I'm dense. Explain to me how the NOE plugs work. Say the .358 X .354.

The neck expanding part of the mandrel is .354", the .358" is the step for flaring the case mouth.

The expander you have mentioned ".358 x .354" will expand the ID of a case neck to accept bullets from 0.354 inch to 0.358 inch in diameter.

NOE expander plugs are an excellent tool. I have them for every caliber I shoot lead from. I don't load without using NOE expanders.

Replacement of the plug is easy. Remove the adjusting screw, remove the Lee plug and drop in the NOE. Adjust for desired expansion

Thanks. Looks like a Lee Universal is in my future.

I thought it was the spud was .354" and the step was .358"

You are correct. The larger dimension is for flaring the case mouth. It does not expand the case as it's a very short step.

Thought for sure this was going to be the other Gump quote: "Mama always said life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get."
