A man gave me this yesterday and I have no idea what it is. I was hoping someone on this site would know. It extends to almost twice it length. It is very well made.

Looks to me like a extension handle for hand held tree trimming saw.

I bet it is a hoe. I have seen one in steel that looks just like that without the extensions.

That does look like a hoe sold on TV for a special one tome price. They had a different name, but essentially a garden hoe.

the head looks like a stirup hoe, but I have never seen one with an extendable handle.

Wow! That's a loaded question! But seriously, it looks like an adjustable garden hoe.

Gentleman, while you are a great source of humor, you offer little expertise in farm tools. I can say that with some authority since I have wielded a hoe down many a row of cotton. It measures 24 inches as pictured and 41 inches extended. That would scarcely make a hoe handle. It is obviously too short to be a saw extension so I suppose it will remain a mystery, at least until a hardware salesman joins our merry group.

Adjustable hoe from Japan? For cultivating around Bonzai trees?

Do the handle have a mounting hole in it? I have some shop lights on a stand/tripod that look close to that.

Is left end hollow or plugged? Is the black loop plumb with the tube or canted? Is the other side rolled like the side showing or is it a cutting edge?

We have those at work with different head attachments. Mainly we use them to scrape corn and soybeans that are stuck to the bin walls. One will reach/extend to 40 foot, 4- 10 ft. sections. Fully extended it gets quite shaky. ( bout $230.00 for the 40 ft'er )

It's a specialty hoe... used to get down between walkway stones, birdbaths, etc. Yes, gentlemen... it's a crackhoe.

I think Rufus Krile nailed a crackhoe.
