Hello, I just purchased a Lyman 457643 mould. The box label reads 45 CAL LA, FN 400 grain. What does the "LA" in the label description mean? I obviously know FN is flat nose but I can't figure out what the "LA" designation means. Thanks, Bruce

The midsouth description for it says" Ideal in 1886 and 1885 Lever Actions."
I would assume that the LA stands for Lever Action.

Well duh, getting old shows sometimes. Especially in this case, I have a Uberti 1876 Centennial on order directly from Uberti. Coincidentally it happens to be a lever gun, simply amazing. I've assembled three moulds to try out, the Lyman 457643 400gr mentioned above, the 457122 HP 330gr. "Gould Express" and the 457192 330gr FP. I've a good stash of Old Eynsford so looking forward to burning some black. It should shoot like a rocket. Thank you KMac!

they liked to cut the 86's with a throat that had about .00015 taper.
and that ain't in degrees.
so the nose is most likely about 452 or so.
