MANY years ago I used this die to assemble shot loads in my .357. They worked just fine to kill the occasional rat in the corn crib. Somewhere along the way the instructions seem to have disappeared along with any idea of where I got those little plastic cups that were used both over the powder and over the shot being crimped in there with the die. If memory serves it was purchased from Ted Smith of SAS dies out in Oregon and he'd be about 116 years old if still around.

I'd like to obtain a copy of the instructions if anyone would happen to have them as well as just where in the world one might possibly obtain those little plastic cups. After all this time on this forum I just noticed this section and am hoping somebody might clue me in. Thanks in advance.

Thanks, I'll give him a holler. Have since found mention in an old SAS manual on swaging that perhaps those shot/wad cups most likely were available from Alcan and I believe that company left the scene years ago.

I think Speer and CCI both make the shot cups still. You might have to order them in as I doubt many places stock them locally.

Have a good supply of them actually. Never really patterned any of them but it "seems" like the shot cups are a little too efficient inside say 10 feet which is what I want em' for. Never thought of using regular gas checks and might just have to give those a try.

You could load the cases with powder then 2 cards over the powder then put the shot size you want and then a card over the shot and you can crimp them some and what I do is dip the mouth of the case in wax 2 times. After the first time I take all the heavy wax off the case and the card and then I dip them again and just take it off the case only and it is seal.I have no problems with them and it should also work for what you looking to use them for also.It works for me.By the way it looks like I am not that far from you.if you are in the area of Sumner ,IA. I go to AL's on 93 to have him work on my pick up.If you know who I mean.

Must mean brother Meyer. Been getting my service at his West shop in Sumner lately. Live 3 miles West of Frederika.

We used gas checks in place of the cups. Can't help on instructions....Pressman should know.
