I have an old Weaver K4 made in El Paso that has fogged at the eye piece.

I found http://ironsightinc.com/index.php?route=common/weaver but $95 is more than it's worth.

Can a do it yourselfer remove the eyepiece and clean it himself?

I'd contact Larry, he has been on several forums in the past.
I've bought a few scopes from him.

Doesn't Weaver have a lifetime warranty? Why not call them and see what they can/will do with it?

Weaver in El Paso went out of business along with the warranty many years ago.

I sent an inquiry to Larry. Thanks JonB

Just take off the eyepiece and set it and the scope in a warm, dry & dust free place for a day or two. It'll clear right up. Done it myself a few times. I've even used the oven set at lowest temp. Moisture will evaporate in a few minutes.

If it fogs up once it will do it again. That's why they fill scope tubes with nitrogen, so no moisture exists within the tube and to prevent condensation. When it happens it's sure to be on a hunting trip when the biggest buck you'll see in your lifetime steps out of the timber into the clearing. If the scope pre-dates nitrogen filled tubes then I'd get rid of it and buy something more modern. If it was nitrogen filled, and lost it, then you may or may not be able to get it repaired. I think I'd look for a new one.

has it just fogged up or have the lenses started de-laminating?

I took the eye piece off and cleaned the lens. Alas it did no good so I believe it is delaminating.
