Just saw on the news that a LG washer blew up.
Guy put a light load in and a little while later he heard a explosion.
Washer was kind of puffed out. Wall next to it was damaged. Water all over the place.
Didn't say what model it was.
Still under warranty.
He contacted LG and they are sending a repair person out.
They also would pay for any damage.
According to the news, there have been reports of other blow-ups in the lower 48.

I have a new LG and see no steam cycle. Carol uses cold water mostly anyway.

We had a new top of the line washer-dryer set with steam and everything else imaginable and returned them a got new set from Speed Queen. Top loaders with mechanical dial knobs. Fantastic. May be harder on the clothes, but they come out cleaner. Speed Queens will last forever.

We bought a new set made by GE. The counter weight fell off after a year's use. These things don't want to use any water either. They just don't make them like the used to.

Way back when, I was on a picket line in Delaware. Somebody put there tools in a washing machine and added gasoline to clean the tools. KABOOM, washer, wall and windows. Darwin himself presented the award.

Speed Queen top loader will last like they did in the day. The only one left.

That's what we bought two years ago. Built like a tank with an unbelievable warranty. This is the brand that almost all hotels, hospitals, and laundry's use. Not a lot of electronics, lots of stainless steel, and all gear drive. Not cheap, but very well made.

Well dang. I was hoping for a video of an old washer sitting on top a few ten pounds of tannerite

Definitely sounds like an interesting story. Wonder what the final result will be.

Out of balance high speed spin cycle. Samsung fix is to add brace to top so if it goes, it doesn't 'go' anywhere.

According to MSNBC it was one of the new "smart" internet connected ones and it was hacked by Putin.

Speed Queens are great. Hard to do better. We have LG right now, but next machines will likely be Speed Queen. The top-loader Speed Queens also have a simple work-around to bypass the gov. mandated lowered or reduced max water level.

My thinking is he used the wrong powder or over charge.:bigsmyl2:

Probably a combination of a propane washer and powder.
