Finally got my 45-70 last year, a Marlin 1895 with 22" barrel. Love those lever guns. Have been shooting 300g and 405g ahead of IMR-4198 and A-5744. Max load of 35g 4198 behind a 405g boolit. Would like to try some 350g cast but have not found correct info. My Lyman #49 has great information but not for 350g cast. It does list 350g jacketed. Would really appreciate some good data for 350g cast.

Thanks from Western WI. Warm temps tomorrow and heading to the range with my son. Life is good.

Shooting and/or loading .223, .380 auto, 9mm, M1 Garand, 308 Win, .357 mag, .45 acp, 45C (rifle), 45-70 and .50 cal ball Hawkins.

Your load for the 405 grain cast bullet should work just fine with a 350 grain cast bullet. I use the same load with both bullet weights in my Marlin.

You can always load lighter bullets with heavy bullet data.

Thank you. Logical. Makes sense.

That's interesting. I've been hand loading 30 years but never knew that bit of information. But the vast majority of my reloads have been with jacketed bullets, not cast. The recipes for those are not always interchangeable from my experience. This is good to know when working with my 45/70. Thanks.
