This is the H&G 68 type bullet. Looking down at the boolits I've cast the top shoulder seems reasonably sharp. The edges of the lube grooves are much more rounded. Is this normal for this mold?

if it isn't and it's s temperature issue it will confirm something I've suspected. My Lyman Big Dipper casting pot isn't up to generating enough heat.

I had a lot of trouble with my Lyman pots. Cycle times got so long lead would freeze while casting. I changed the thermostats to no avail.
Friend Pete has 2 RCBS pots and neither gets hot enough for pure RB's.
I have had Lee pots for a long time with no problems.
Lyman and RCBS need a PID. Bypass the thermostat and regulate the voltage.

My RCBS can go to at least 835 as tested with my thermometer. I cast tons of pure lead through it with no problems.

jamesp81, I have the same mold in a six cavity. I check my boolits this morning and get back with an answer.

That sounds like every bullet I have from that mold.187252

I dunno LEE really puts out the effort to make super nice square quality stuff.

run one-two through the size die and look again, that will show what's what.

thats about what mine look like.

I'm shooting my current batch regardless. They'll either work or I'll be mining lead from my 1911. Wouldn't be the first time :D
