I scored this bucket of lead today and it weighs 90 lbs. Its soft as butter. I cant wait to fire up the fish cooker. Anybody recognize where it came from or what it is used for. I know what I'M going to use it for.

Looks like roofing lead. And it is most likely pure.

I thought it was a good find too. I've been dealing with a wheel weight melt for a while that had some contamination in it that left impurities and this is going to stay a dedicated 1:20 mix. I thought I could flux the trash metal out of a bucket of wheel weights but experience is a heck of a teacher.

It does look like roofing lead. Nice find.

actually its left overs from shower pans, the trimmings I guess you would call them. have a bunch and it is soft, makes good black powder boolits and slugs.

Not arguing, just commenting. It looks to me, like window flashing from an East coast home. They used to solder the corners for water proofing.

in my limited experience everything I've seen that looks like that is pure lead or close to it

If it is roof lead it has been cut into strips. I think it is some kind of window flashing or shower pan trimmings. Either way it is probably pure lead. Good find. Great for black powder balls or maxi balls. Alloy it up and make all sorts of boolits.

It could be trimmings from a Doc.

I don't use much pure except for ML's. Must have a few tons of ingots.
With WW's keep smelt at 600° and remove anything that floats. Skim first before fluxing. If you flux first, zinc and junk metal will melt in. Antimony will alloy in at 600°.
Never turn up the fire for stubborn weights.

Yes, I found out the hard way about fluxing first. I've got about 20 lbs of WW with junk metal in it. The #$%^ stuff doesn't even make decent fishing jigs. I have some lino to add to this pure lead and some tin if it needs it. I don't shoot anything past 1300-1400fps and most are less that that. I've been using WW for 40 yrs so this will be my first time using pure lead. I am open to recipes that will yield a boolit that will work for my application.
