Hi all. I have a new Ruger Redhawk in 45 acp/colt and want to cast for it.I read I could use my 451 mould and size them. BUT... when I took a factory load apart the bullet was 1/8 longer. Will this cause any problems. I plan on using Unique powder. Thanks for the help

Do you own a loading manual?

When in doubt, go by what the manual tells you to do.

Use the correct load data for your bullet weight and you won't have any problems.

your ruger will probably like a 452 diameter boolit.
the length of the bullet is not a big deal.

you are going to work a load up for your gun with your boolit anyway so what they done doesn't matter.

unique will work just fine in both the acp case and in the 45 colt case.
the same boolit should work too.
I have loaded a 200swc for the acp round in the 45 colt case.
and I have loaded 225 rnfp's for the 45 colt in the acp case.

Thanks for the help. I have the lyman casting manual. It is great,a lot of information. I was just cautious about the length. This is a fun hobby I want to keep it that way. too old for emergency rooms.

A lead bullet will be shorter than the same weight jacketed. No need to worry. Load by weight and you'll be fine.
