Need boolit mold recommendation in 300blk.

New project commencing in a AR-15 based 300 blackout.

I will need a mold to feed it. It will have a 16" barrel with pistol gas length configuration to start. Plan is to eventually add a Form 1 suppressor so loads will be subsonic. I may opt to shorten the barrel and perm attach the suppressor in the late half of the project. The gun will be for plinking and general fun shooting at the range, no bench rest or precision stuff,,,,just good ole fun blastin!

I was was looking at the current MiHec 308 hunting mold being offered in ~155 grains gas check.

I too, am working on a AR-15 build in 300 Blackout. I know that for subsonic rounds you want a heavier boolit. I was looking at the NOE website at this one.

I am working one 300 blackout also right now , but I am working on supers , I am trying the new Hogdon poweder CFE-BLK havent shot any yet buyt loaded some today , the stuff meters great it is a fine ball powder and works supers to subs according to the load data with pressure lower than most of the others , but it's all just research till I can pull the trigger on some rounds this weekend.

If you want something subsonic you need a boolit 200gr+, the NOE 247 is a good design. Accurate Molds has a number of great designs over 200gr for the 300BO. They even have a 245gr version of the NOE mold. For supersonic a 155gr is a great weight, I shoot the Lee 155 with just a tad over 15gr of W296/H110 for about 1,850fps.

Subscribed.

So so far I've been messing with supers and a little work with some 311365 subs. They don't quite cycle with lil gun or 296. 50 cycled with H4198. I'm going to play with it some more to see what I can get done. I really want to try the CFE to see how that works.
I did shoot some 311414 super and they were fun to play with. All of it being coated with Hi-Tek by the way.

I have been using the 170 grn Sliver from Arsenal. Cycles fine using a wide range of Lil Gun. tried NOE 155 grn HP but couldn't get it to feed. bullet was short and to much of a blunt nose. it just wouldn't feed. I do have a NOE 230 grn mold that works fine for Subs. But it is a looong bullet.

NOE 247 or 230 grain molds should suit your needs. I have the 230 and load at 10 grains of H110 for regular use. Cycles my pistol gas AR's fine.

This Lee 155 with the charge listed below gets me the same 1850 in my 16 inch AR. It also gets 1800fps in my brothers 10 inch AR. A Can on a 10 inch AR still cuts the noise quite a bit and you get a lot more energy to the target than subs. If my goal was to build a subsonic round in the 200 to 230 gr range I would make it 40S&W or a 10MM. They can easy make 1000 fps with a heavy bullet and a small charge of fast powder.
