Anyone have any experience with this boolit in a gun with a 1 in 16 twist. I am thinking about starting with 9 gr. of 2400, sized at 225 with a small pistol primer. Any suggestions. Should I use pure lino or #2 alloy? Or should I size it at 224? I already use 13 gr. of Lilgun with a jacketed 45 gr spirepoint but want to go to cast to save the rifleing.

Take a look at castpics in the articles section for an article on the Hornet. I've tried the 22596 in a M77 Hornet and it shoots right fair. The 22596 I beleive was the forerunner of the 225415 and is (from my memory) just a bit shorter.

The M54 has probably got a 1-16 twist and the shorter the bullet in that twist, the better it will shoot./beagle

Years ago I talked to Richard Lee about casting for the 22 cal guns. He said that he found linotype to be the easiest to cast and has less problems with leading. The difference in price between WW and lino per # is ? when you figure how many good boolits you get per #. I have never regretted taking advice from persons with his amount of experience.

Well I just do have a supply of lino that is waiting to be used for something. These little boogers wont use much. I just hope I don't need my reading glasses to put the gas checks on. LOL!!

I normally use WW alloyed with a bar of babbitt. Makes a good hard bullet and shoots pretty well. Heck, try water quenched WW alloy. That should be hard enough to give good accuracy.

Sure wish I had a M54 Hornet to mess with./beagle
