My Dad gave me his 45LC Gudge today and I know very little about them, would anyone here clue me in about bullits, powder, and anything else I need to know? Thanks in advance for the help.

they shoot 410 shells pretty well.

You can shoot 410 & 45lc in them..... not much too them. No fancy load data and they are pretty meh shooters but they are good for home defense. If you plan on useing it primarily for 45lc I highly suggest measuring the cylinder throats to make sure they are .4525" in diameter and running an oiled slug down the barrel to check for muzzle constriction in the barrel near the frame.

If the throats are too small you can ream them out with a tool from brownells. If you have muzzle constriction you can fire lap the barrel to get rid of it and open the throat up a bit. I would also look into recutting the forcing cone to 11degrees then lapping it till polished.

I'm not sure just how much work you can really do to it to make it shoot 45lc well but I know those were biggest issues with my Heritage big bore in 45lc.

I can tell you for 45lc I love using my 252grain Lee swc over trail boss for a nice mild load.

we got AJG's shooting fairly well by using 410 brass cases and loading them like a 45 colt.
we seated the boolits clear down in the case to the same depth as a 45 colt.
