Its been a couple of days since I posted here but I have a question that I hope you all can help me with. I have been thinking allot about casting for my K-31 7.5x55 swiss and wondered if any of you have done any experimenting with molds in the 150 grain range? What molds have dropped bullets that perform well for you in this caliber? Thanks in advance :drinks:

I have been working on using the Lee C312-155-2R. I size them to .309. Using 16gr of 2400 they give quarter sized hole at 20 yards. Out to 50 yards I am getting a 1.5 inch group if I do my part. I have to work up new loads as I gave the K31 I was using to a friend. My other K31 doesn't like the same bullet seating depth and the groups are a bit more open.

Both of my K31's like the Lee C309-160 bullet. My best loads are 10.0 Unique, 14.0 2400 and 16.0 of surplus SR4759.

hedgehorn,
Right now there is a group buy specifically designed for the K-31getting ready to wrap up. If you hurry, you might still be able to get on and order a mould that has been custom designed to function in the K-31. Under the group buy thread it's listed as "Custom 165 Silouete" or something like that. Go through the first pages of entries to read the thought that went into the specs. You might be interested.

i did some testing with the rcbs 165...actuall weight was 175. they shot very well. using that info , we have a group buy with that boolit shortened a little for a proposed weight of 160.

go look at the group buy page, two threads, the custom 165 and one on boolit for k31

the 165 rcbs is what i shoot and it works well.
the g/b one is designed for the k-31 and may work better.
but the rcbs shoots as well as i can and as well as jacketed for me anyway.

I shoot a 170 grain flatnose in my K31 with 20 grains of 2400 and it shoots great and is powerfull enough that it would make a good whitetail load for closer distances and out to a 100 yards.

Lyman 311466@.311" and 10 grains of Unique produces 5 shot groups of MOA or just slightly over at 100 yards. Probably the most accurate military rifle I own.

Looks like I might be a little late. I don't want to hold the rest of the group up. Should be a dandy!:castmine:
