Can a lyman 2 cav. handle be fitted to a 4 cav. mold?
If not, why.
I know they make different handles for a reason, but whats the difference?

...............The arms on the 2 C mould handles aren't long enough to reach the handle attachment screws of the 4C. Without running our to check, I think the handle slots in the 4C blocks are also narrower then in the 2 C blocks.

What Buckshot said is right on the money.............
4C handles are thinner and machined to a longer length.
Here's picture on the left is the 4C and 2C on the right

Thanks guys. That's just what I wanted to know.
Looks to me that they could have made one handle fit both molds, if they wanted to. But then our pockets would be a bit fuller.

You can, however, fit a set of Lee handles to the Lyman blocks. I've done this very thing myself, either a bit of milling or grinding with a steady hand will get the job done.

It appears to me, looking at the photo, that the pins for the four cavity are larger? And does it take the Lee 6 cav. handles for the Lyman 4 cav. molds? DALE

Slot in the Lyman 4C mould is .247"-.249", and the Lee 6C handle jaws are .312"...........

Hi,

I just got a set of four cavity Lyman mould handles. Not bad after only a month on backorder....
I also thought about cutting down a 2 cavity handle to fit a four cavity mould.
The advice you've gotten so far is right on! It would have been a whole heck of a lot of grinding for something that wasn't a sure thing to work.
I wisely decided that no matter how badly I wanted to cast .44's out of my nice new 429421 mould, the best thing to do would be to wait for the arrival of the proper handle set.
The decision to hold off was a good one. Save yourself a LOT of aggravation, and buy the right handles.
Happy Shootin'! -Tom

My back orders from Graffs are usually shipped with-in a week. Where were your handles ordered through?
