Intel6 had some photos of some he made once and finally got around to it myself.

308 brass cut and trimmed to 1.600", expanded at the mouth with a 40 S&W expander, a slightly cut down .410 wad and .53oz of #12 shot.

Make a bad mark to a face from close range.

Looks good. Questions: (1) How did you downsize the front half of the case? (2) What are you using for the overshot card? Lexan? (3) Powder type and charge? (4) Primer?

1. A die I converted, details here.
http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?235886-Homemade-45-acp-shotshell-die&highlight=45+shotshell

2. Some clear plastic from some Christmas present box, using the punch from the above thread.

3. 231 but I am hesitant to list the charge, start around 4 gn. A lot of times a "hotter" load with shot in a rifled barrel equals a worse pattern but testing will show you what works.

4. Winchester LP

Thanks for the information. I'll look into it--and maybe try it myself! :-D

Those look great, glad to see someone else messing with it. I still have all my cases & stuff from years ago when I did this. One of these days I will break them out and mess with them again.

Jmorris;
That's just flat impressive. I have used, with much satisfaction, Speer shot capsules in .38/.357's, .44 Special/.44 Magnum, and .45 Colt. However, I haven't done much with my .45 ACP revolvers using shot. Thanks for sharing.

Why wouldn't starting with .45 Colt rimmed cases work as well. Unless one is using clips unloading the rimless cases must be tedious in a DA revolver.

I imagine it would take something like a pen to poke them out. I have never fired a rimless case in a double action revolver without moon clips, like the ones in the second photo above. Single action revolvers eject them the same as rimmed cases.

45 colt cases would be 5/16" shorter though.

.45 Colt cases would have excess headspace. The rim is not nearly thick enough in the double action revolvers. The proper rimmed case is the .45 Auto Rim with it's extra thick rim, but it has no more capacity than the ACP case.

No, I think jmorris has the right idea. The only problem is few of us have the means to create the necessary die set.

I use 45 Colt and invert a 45 plain base gas check to lock everything in place.I have killed squirrels at 15 to twenty feet away. Some of the grackles that I have shot flew away but dropped out of the sky hundred feet or so away.I use #10 shot over 6 grains of titegroup works well in my 45 C Ruger.

You don't need the necessary dies, you can use a 44 mag die to resize the smaller front portion, go slow to set the length. You can use other dies to roll over the mouth of the loaded case - I had a 32 Hornady die set that I used the mouth of the seater die for this step. I bought nothing extra to make them, just tools I already had.

Now I know what to do with some 7.62mm NATO blank cases!

I like using old .308 cases as people shoot them and leave them laying around. Do they fit right into the full moon clip? How do you cut the down, use a regular old pipe cutter? Have you tried using a cardboard wad over the powder and shot instead of a .410 wad? These may be great for Patridge Hunting.

I use a Dremel cut off wheel, with 308 case in home made Nylon V- block. Cut off a little long and
finish brass in case trimmer. I use 41mg die to form, and punch out cardboard wad to cap.

I experimented with .444 Marlin cases (in a .45 Colt). Trim to cylinder length and run them through a .44 magnum die until the slight shoulder seats on the chamber throat.
